Quick Quote Friday- November 12, 2010
The day after she was born Greyson said it was like I had automatically become someone new. He said it was amazing because I instantly became a mother. My Mom said my Dad said the same thing about her when I was born. I ran across this quote…
“The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new. -Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh
I get it. I’m getting it a little more everyday.

Love this. You'll see everything differently. I teach the same books every year, but after Will was born, I was just drawn to the things about kids and mothers. There's a random scene in 1984 where the Proles get bombed and Winston sees a mother throw herself over her child even though it's a futile effort. I cried and cried over that one paragraph that I'd never even noticed before. Stories on the news about horrific things happening to kids will also now tear you out of the frame. And then there're those nights when I dream and I'll reach out and grab Bill because in my dream I'm yanking Will back from a cliff or something. He says I often say, "No hot!" Or "Careful!" in my sleep too. You hear it and you intellectually understand that being a mom changes everything, but until it happens, you don't have any idea of how strong the FEELING is. It's amazing.
That is such a great quote! And I can't remember if I have already said so or not, but just in case, Congratulations!

And that little girl is BEAUTIFUL. Just in case you haven't heard it enough times today. Beautiful!
isn't amazing how in an instant our whole being changes… it keeps getting better and better (if you can even imagine it that way)
enjoy those snuggles with that gorgeous girl… keep remembering how tiny she feels… they grow so quickly.
