Oh my God! Seriously. After all that? Ugggghhh! (Read about my baby name agony and the ultimate decision.) After all the agonizing over the not-too-popular name I read this article in the Charlotte Observer. Great. Well, Emma, Isabella, and Ava can move over for Charlotte. {sigh} I guess that’s what I get for over analyzing. I’m holding out hope that it was only the most searched name, not the name everyone went with. We’ll find out when the Social Security Administration release their 2010 list. (See link above.) At least it’s not a weird name. I still love it, and it’s not like I can do anything about it now.
Charlotte, you’re popular!
Posted: Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010
Charlotte was 2010’s most-searched-for name on the popular baby-naming website, Nameberry.com, cementing the lead that the royal feminine variation of Charles has held among visitors to the site all year.
The No. 2 and 3 girls’ names are Violet and Seraphina, both names of the daughters of Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, which has gone far to popularize them.
Four other names on the Nameberry Top 10 for girls have risen steeply through the ranks: Eliza, Amelia, Adelaide and Imogen. Names beginning with vowels count for seven of the girls’ Top 10.
Nameberry’s 2010 most popular names list counts the number of times visitors to the site searched each name throughout the year, which we like to think gives the discerning baby namer an excellent insight into which names are attracting the most buzz. Of the 4.5 million views the name pages gathered last year, more than 11,000 went to Charlotte alone, making it the most-searched name on the site for either gender. (The site hasn’t released the most commonly searched-for boys names.)
None of the names in the girls’ Top 10 is among the U.S. 10 most popular names. Elizabeth comes the closest, 10 on the Nameberry chart and 11 on the U.S. count.
Following are the Nameberry Top 100 2010 most popular names for girls. Names with “asterisk” next to them are ones that Nameberry will continue to be popular in 2011.

This seemed to happen with my first son. I thought that I was picking a name that wasn't really popular at the time (Owen), but then suddenly, I was seeing it everywhere and everyone was naming their baby Owen! I still think that Charlotte was a perfect name choice!
#71…too close to being confused with Aereola. Who names their kid Aereola?
Charlotte is timeless and classic, of course it will always be popular, but in the best way!
I really love the name Charlotte! This happened to my friend. She named her daughter Stella 4 years ago, before Tori Spelling, Ellen Pompeo & some other celebrity I can't remember named their daughters Stella. And now we know like 5 people who have named their girls Stella.
Take it as a compliment. You picked a really beautiful name!! At least people will be like, "oh that's so beautiful!" and agree with you – people still act like I'm crazy sometimes when I say my daughter's name is Isis. LOL
Oh Girl! I am in the same boat! We named our son Liam because it was a normal name but not all that common now it is in the top 5 on all the charts! Seriously, ugh!
With my first, husby & I loved the name Sebastian because it was uncommon yet it wasn't weird. The following year it was on the top 100 list. It's on there again this year, but I'm trying to not let it bother me as much.
Our girl name, Genevieve, has been everywhere recently, especially commercials, but it hasn't made its way to the top 100 list yet (as far as I know). Maybe it will a year after she's born! LOL
Also? Charlotte is the name of my Jeep (if I remember correctly, you drive a Liberty, too, right?).
Wonderful overcom! I must newbie all at once since you change your web site, the best way can my spouse and i sign up for the weblog web page? A consideration taught me to be a new suitable cope. I have been previously somewhat common on this your current send out furnished sparkly obvious plan
