A GREAT Grandma- March 31, 2011

This weekend was my Grandma’s 80th birthday party.  Charlotte donned her adorable spring party clothes.  She charmed everyone with her smiles and giggles.  She was exhausted after being passed around for hours.  Before the party kicked off I took her over to my grandparents house to visit with them alone for a little while.

When the whole, loud family is not there, my grandparents house is quiet and peaceful like no other place. You can hear the clock on the mantle ticking.  Grandma hasn’t been in the best health in recent years, but she couldn’t wait to see Charlotte. We sat, listening to the clock as she smiled and played with Charlotte, always adjusting her little outfit.

I watched them together and I prayed.  I prayed and asked God that my baby live to be an old woman.  I prayed that she know the happiness my Grandma has felt.  I prayed she’d be the hard worker and compassionate lady my Grandma is.  I prayed that she’d know the joys of raising four children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grand children.
I prayed that the clock keep ticking a while longer for my Grandma so my daughter can know her a little more.

Wow, again amy. I really need to go to bed but 1) can't stop reading and 2) can't stop crying. Really good post, I love getting distracted with your blog.
