My baby the astronaut- May 10, 2011
So this is what our living room looks like these days. We call the Mama Roo on the left the “space pod”. When we registered, the lady at Buy Buy Baby was like, “Have you registered for an exersaucer?” I said, “No, I’m not really interested in those.” When she asked me why I said, “Because they are big, loud, and ugly.” Greyson just shook his head in shame at my over-honesty, as he has so many times throughout our relationship.
I never ruled it out. But, I put off buying one because we really don’t have room for those $80-$115 plastic monstrosities that are so many exersaucers on the market. Charlotte LOVES the exersaucers at her school. At home she still sits in her infant seat, Mama Roo, and Bumbo chair, but she’s getting bigger and needs more stimulation.
Maybe it was because I was feeling all happy and nurturing as the oxytocin coursed through my veins this Mother’s Day weekend, but I bought one. I found the Bright Starts Bounce Bounce Baby. It’s only $39 and much smaller. I could handle that. We can scoot it in the downstairs linen closet when not in use. I figured out why it’s cheaper as I put it together. It took FOREVER and you had to assemble every little part. Shoot me!
But it was worth it…

| Happy baby! She moves so much when she’s in this thing, I only get blurry pictures. |
This was her in the space pod when she was really little. This picture MAKES ME LAUGH!

| “Baby’s of the world UNITE!” (I caught her mid-yawn, but it looks like she’s rallying the troops.) |
A saucer and a space pod? Somebody call NASA.

Truth: I never had an exersaucer for Sebastian & Gigi doesn't have one, either. But we had those jumpy things for the doorways, walkers & the jumpy rainforest thing that is stationary and on the floor…do you know what I'm talking about?
And then, duh, the bouncy seats for them to nap in. LOVE.
Who knew babies needed so much?
We caved too… it was the sad moment we now call "the beginning of hte living room take over" It only gets worse… holding out is futile.
I couldn't agree more – most of the baby gear is so ugly! So busy and crazy patterned. I cringed as I added the exersucer to the registry. I just keep telling myself it will be good for her hand-eye coordination and mental stimulation.
Your new blog design is adorable!
