Gratefulness. Is that a word?- November 13, 2011
I’m sure I’m not the only one who gets bummed out on Sunday afternoons. I tend to mope around and gripe that the weekend is coming to a close. I lay out all of Charlotte’s clothes for the week with a heavy heart knowing I won’t get to see her in each outfit until the afternoons. Greyson rolls his eyes at my dramatic sighs as I pick out something to wear on Monday. I hate leaving the weekend and all it’s relaxed good vibes behind for the grind of my early morning working hours. Plus, I’m still getting over the snots and I’m all snotty and whiny.
Sometimes when I’m feeling this way I like to think of the amazing wonderful things in my life and focus on how grateful I am. Plus, people on Facebook are doing this thing where they mention something they’re thankful for every day in November leading up to Thanksgiving. Since I constantly bow to the pressures of social media, here’s what I’m thankful for and excited about today…
- My husband: This man works so hard and is such a great husband and father. I’m very proud to be your wife Grey!
- My daughter: She’s the coolest baby ever! She Paddy Cakes better than one-year-old I know.
- Friends: We have friends who will watch the UNC basketball team play on a boat this weekend and they don’t mind if I just hand them their thank-you notes from Charlotte’s party versus mailing them. We have other friends who will sit around on a Saturday night, watch Harry Potter movies, and debate the greatest sitcom of all time. (It’s “Cheers”, in case you were wondering.)
- My cousin’s baby shower: I’m co-hosting my cousin Meagan’s baby shower the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I’m really excited! Another little girl! Emma Reese is due at the end of January. I have some fun ideas but I welcome all baby girl shower ideas. (Email me or leave a comment with some good shower tips.) We have no January birthdays in the family and we have only one in February, so Emma’s arrival will be super special. Plus, I love Meagan and her husband Daniel and I know they’ll be great parents.
- Snookie Snookerwitz hot chocolate: Don’t be fooled by Snookie in the name. This is no Jersey trash. These are amazing cocoas and coffees. I got some for Charlotte’s teachers as part of their Christmas gifts. I’ve been drinking my weight of this stuff. (Is the Snookie company paying me to write this. Aw! That’s cute. No. They’re not. It’s just awesome and I’m blogging about it because I love it that much.)
- Possibilities– I’m realizing there’s more, more things I want to do. There’s a lot out there for me, maybe not in the too distant future. I realized some of the possibilities this past week. It makes the early morning grind this coming week a little easier to stomach.
