My Unofficial Mother’s Day- May 9, 2010
I woke up early for work. Shoot me. I was super cranky and really tired. I just can’t let myself sleep for only 6 or 7 hours. It’s gotta be 9 or 10 these days. But, I had a good outlook for the rest of the day when I found my first Mother’s Day card on my work bag. Greyson gave me a sweet “Mothers Day to-be” card and it promised a massage and $200 towards maternity clothes. A great start to my Unofficial Mother’s Day.
After work Myself, Greyson, Julie, Kevin, Jeff, and my step-sister Tahlia took Mom to dinner. (I don’t believe I’ve introduced you to Tahlia. She is an awesome sister addition. I love her.) Julie surprised me with my first maternity top. (It doesn’t really fit yet, but I imagine it will soon.) We took a long time eating and talking. We doted on Mom with gifts and cards.

My Mom always wore White Linen perfume by Estee Lauder. They say smell is the sense most tied to memory. I truly believe that as I can walk in a department store to this day and smell my mother when I was a child. She wears that sometimes now, but something else more often. She doesn’t smell as good these days. (Please see “Beagle” post from March 17.) She took no offense to me moving to the opposite side of the table from her.
Earlier in the week Mom and I were on the phone. I was telling her how I’m not really showing, I just have two pairs of pants that are kind of tight. She said she had started wearing maternity clothes around 15 weeks. We both agreed life was better in the second trimester. While my mom has always told me about being pregnant with me and Julie, it was a different to share my own experiences. It’s like I’m graduating into some exclusive “Mama Club” I’ve never been in before, a whole new level of relationship with my mom.
Happy Mother’s Day Mama! I love you!
