Labor Day laments- September 6, 2010

I know I’m not the only one who gets a little sad on Sunday afternoons.  Well, Monday in this case.  We just got our weekends back together last month.  I’m finally working Mon.-Fri.  It has been so wonderful!  Greyson said to me “Wow, I forgot how much we like each other.”

I’ll get to the point, I promise.  Just indulge me as I recap…

Friday night we had dinner with our friend Amy at one of our favorite spots in town.

Saturday my husband, a grown man, woke up singing and dancing because it was the start of college football season.  I went shopping with Colleen.  For the late game we went out for wings and beer (water for me) with Dave and Trish.

Sunday we took Ginger out for breakfast before going to the flea market.  We assembled the crib.  That night we watched a movie.

I guess what makes me sad this Monday is knowing today was one of the last times we took Ginger for a hike without a stroller.  It’s one of the last weekends sleeping in as late as we want, and doing whatever we want.  Now that we have weekends together, the number we have of “just us” is very numbered.  Don’t get me wrong.  We’re excited.  It’s just that it’s almost the end of an era.

So we’re soaking up every moment of this…

This is Greyson freaking out because my feet are touching his.  He is also freaking out because this game is not being shown in HD.

Great post. I think it's good that you're being honest about this and doing a bit of grieving. A lot of parents don't grieve the loss of their freedom until after the baby comes. Might as well face it now and be able to more fully enjoy the baby later. :)

I hate to be a negative nelly… but he best thing to me that you said was "one of the last weekends sleeping in as late as we want"

you will later just hope for sleeping – in any quantity they babies allow and now my "sleeping late" is 7:30am…

Enjoy it and love it while you can… soon your heart will grow and you will miss this but love something more. It is bliss… tired and unslept joy and bliss.
