6 months- May 2, 2011

Dear Charlotte,
Happy 1/2 Birthday!  Are you really 6 months old?  Really?  When I told people you were .5 years old today, no one believed me, but it’s true.

You have been nothing short of remarkable this month.  You overcame more cold/fever yuckiness.  You’ve just now started solids.  You celebrated your first Easter.  All of the sudden you are this tiny person interested in the world around you.  You love your toys now!  You especially love anything you can put in your mouth.  You used to just lay and stare at the mobiles on your play mat and Mama Roo.  Now you rip them down and stuff them in your face.  If I lay you on your back on a blanket with a toy, I’ll look away for a second, and then there you are on your tummy smiling, reaching for another toy.  Even in the last 3 days you are sitting up steadier than ever.  (There’s still a little tipping over a little, but you’re getting there, Big Girl.)

The doctor was thrilled with your growth at your 6 month appointment.  You are in the 17th percentile for weight, and like the 25th for weight.  (I gotta look at the paper, I’m not sure.)  Small, but growing at a great rate.

At school they planted a flower garden for your class.  Each baby brought in a flower.  I scoured the State Farmers’ Market for the perfect flower.  I’m not sure why, but these reminded me of you…

Miniature orange Gerbera  Daisies

I love you, my darling, darling girl.
Love,
Mama

I found your blog via Myskabelly and am so glad I did. I'm thrilled to know I'm not the only new mom (& dad) figuring parenthood out as we go. Our Greta is two and a half months old. What an adventure. Hope your gorgeous little girl enjoys her special day.
P.S. Hi Amy, I'm Rachel. Nice to meet you. (loved the yoga post). :)
