Royalty in pajamas- May 1, 2011

A few weeks ago my Mom and Step-Dad were in England.  I had one request from their trip, a ridiculous William and Kate souvenir.  I knew the streets of London would be littered with kiosks exploiting the couple’s love and I was anxious to be a part of it.

They obliged.  Knowing my love of coffee, they got me this…

I didn’t have tea and scones, as I find tea to be less caffeinated and scones to be dry muffin-wannabes but, I had coffee and toast and happily geeked out in front of the TV for hours.  I was off Friday.  Contrary to popular belief (Greyson) I didn’t take off for the Royal Wedding, I was just had a vacation day scheduled already and I kept it.

I’m so glad I did!  My God it was heaven!  Am I right?!  Was it not awesome!?  I wanted to use unnecessary “u’s” in some of my most colourful words and say things like “brilliant” and “bloody”.  I had it on the DVR and got up around 5:30am.  I rewound a bit to watch the procession and see the Queen in all her yellow glory, but by the time Kate stepped out I was watching the whole thing live.  I did have to pause part of the service as my little royal watcher puked something crazy.  This was way beyond spit-up.  I almost stopped the Archbishop of Canterbury to perform an exorcism.  (She is just still fighting some mucas and felt better after she got it all up.  Sorry, too gross?)

I guess it meant a lot to me to watch it because I was born the week after Charles and Diana’s wedding.  My mom always told me how she was hugely pregnant with me when she watched that wedding.  I watched Kate, imagining how she must be feeling.  I realized it probably wasn’t that different from how I felt the day I married Greyson.  I think all brides are the center of attention and “princesses” for that one day.   I looked down at my little baby in her footy pajamas and dreamed about her wedding.  I’ll love being able to tell Charlotte all about watching the Royal Wedding with her goofy mama.  Maybe I’ll leave out the part about the puke.
