"Ewww! Is that your foot?!" – July 20, 2011
First off, let me apologize for writing a post about my nasty foot. I’ll also say I’m even more sorry for posting a picture of it. But, this is pretty much a blog about my life and frankly my foot has taken over my life in recent days.
Here it is… (Remember, I already apologized for this…twice.)

Look at that thing! I mean, I have boogidy, ape-like feet anyway. For the past three summers I cannot go without getting attacked by fire ants. I don’t know what my deal is. You can see my second toe is all blistered and the rest of this appendage is swollen. I can’t wear anything but sandals, which is how ants attacked me in the first place. I was only standing on the sidewalk for this year’s attack! The sidewalk in the city! And why does this always happen when I’m in need of a pedicure?!
Yesterday I couldn’t post because I was Benadryl-drunk. For the 2009 attack, I got some Prednisone. Awesome! Cankles gone! Last year I was pregnant so I had to rely on Benadryl. Now, I don’t want Prednisone in my breast milk. ::sigh:: I guess I’ll just keep tripping on Benadryl. Topical creams don’t help the itch, nor the swelling.
I’m open to your fire ant remedies.

aww poor you! poor foot!
Ohmigosh, I've never seen anything like that – going to be watching out for fire ants! Ack! I hope you feel better soon…
Ouch!!! Some people are just more prone to bites.
I wonder if icing it would help at all?? As far as preventative maintenance, Avon's Skin so Soft bug spray works for me. I used to get chewed on all summer long, but so far this year it has been biteless. They have lotions, but I like the spray because I don't have to touch it when I put it on!
Ow!!! The only remedy I have is STOMPING on them, and unfortunately they outnumber us, so it's kind of a crappy remedy.
Oh no, this looks terrible! Try making a paste that's a 1-3 ratio of water to baking soda. It'll help dry out the bites and draw out the venom as it dries. Here in Korea the mosquitoes give bites unlike anything I've ever seen–they get huge and swollen. They look more like cysts. Yuck. I've been putting tea tree oil on my boyfriend's bites (I don't have any miraculously) and it really helps with the swelling and cleans out the bite but stings.
Ouch! I have no idea what you could take… but an ice foot bath sounds worth a shot.
I had a sorority sister who dropped her drawers at a party and peed on an fire ant hill….bites ensued in her nether regions…it could be worse
