I don’t know what it is about Southerners, but it seems we like to put our initials on everything.  If there is enough room for a monogram, then by God, stitch and/or screen print it somewhere.  Ya’ll don’t hang your towels without your name on ’em, you gotta let everyone know they’re yours!

No surprise that when I had a baby I put her name on anything I could.  We worked hard to find the perfect name for her, so we were going to make sure “Charlotte Eva” was on every blanket, piece of decorative wall art, picture frame and sippy cup she owned.

So when I found Luna B. Tee I did the little squeal I do when I land on an Internet site selling products I adore.  This company is based out of Knoxville, Tennessee.  The south naturally, because they specialize in personalized children’s clothing and everything monogrammed.

Luna B. Tee sent me their Original Tee for Charlotte.  She loved it!  The Original Tee has the child’s first name initial with their first name all around the circle.  After we told her what it said she kept saying “C for Chalette!”  Even in North Carolina it has been chilly this February so I paired it with a hot pink undershirt to go with the pink/hot pink design they sent me.  She rocked it with the skinny jeans, furry boots and pigtails for school this week.

As two-year-old’s do, she came home with a bunch of stuff on her new shirt.  I put a little stain remover spray on it.  Voila!  No stains.  This shirt is seriously soft too.  It’s thick and high quality.  I have washed it twice and it has not shrunk up or gotten all misshapen the way a lot of kids clothes do.

This weekend we paired it with navy and hot pink leggings and a jean skirt.  Please excuse the blurry cell phone action shot of us in a restaurant.

After her nap, Charlotte decided a shirt this fantastic didn’t need pants.  She just rocked her snow boots with it.  These boots have only been necessary twice this year.  We got about an inch each time.  Okay, so in the South we do monograms and overreact to snow.  That is what we do.

The past two mornings I have headed to work at painfully early morning hours. Not nearly as early or painful as my former TV morning news hours, mind you, but early nonetheless. Sunday night I set out Charlotte’s clothes, shoes, socks, hair bow and jacket for Greyson. Last night I was wiped and just told him that this morning would be “Daddy’s choice” for Tuesday’s toddler wardrobe.

I called him mid-morning to check in.

Me: “So what did you dress her in?”
Him: “Her Abby Cadabby shirt and jeans.”
Me: “Oh! I bet she loved that! You’re a good Daddy!”
Him: “Yeah, it wasn’t that cold so I just put on her jean jacket instead of her parka.”

::record scratch::

Me: “You put her in a jean jacket?!? WITH her jeans?!? Greyson! You can’t do that!”
Him: “Uh, yeah you can Amy. I did it.”
Me: “You had our baby dressed at school in unidenim?!? You can’t have denim on denim! Please tell me you fixed her hair!”
Him: “Yeah, I fixed her hair, with a big DENIM bow! Ha!”

My male coworker, also a young father, was listening to this conversation with a shrug and confused face. He obviously sided with Greyson and saw no problem with the double dungaree outfit. The women in my office were on my side.

Female coworker: “Oh, my God! She’s rockin’ a “Canadian Tuxedo!”

I had to chuckle at this. I had never heard that term, but now plan to use it liberally.

Charlotte is a two-year-old, and as such, had no interest in keeping her jacket on once she got in the house. Her tantrum was no match for my picture taking. This was the outfit. You get the picture.

I consulted my very cool and very fashionable step-brother about this faux pas. He said only someone in high fashion or a celebrity could pull it off. If you Google Canadian Tuxedo, this is what pops up.

I think my toddler wore it better.

This is a What I Wore Wednesday (night) post because well, frankly, I forgot it was Wednesday and spent all day thinking it was Tuesday.  Short work weeks will do that to you.

Clearly from this photo I’m big on recycling.  I did do my 4th grade science project on recycling.  It was the early ’90’s back when putting one can in a bin constituted saving the earth.   The picture on the left is a shot from our maternity photo shoot in fall 2010.  The shot on the right was yesterday.  Still rockin’ this dress from 2010!  Yes, it’s a maternity dress.  I’ve learned I can re-wear lots of preggo clothes.

Can a get a “Belt It!”?!  That’s what I did to this maternity dress here…

I’m not the only one recycling.  Last summer I put Charlotte in a 12 month dress at 9 months old because I was terrified she would grow out of it.  Ha!  I’m an idiot.  My teeny senorita is 20 months and can still fit into 12 month outfits.  See…

Did you catch the outfit Charlotte was wearing at the top of this post?  Yep!  Recycled!  It’s a 9 month outfit she’s wearing now as a 20 month old.  It was a dress last summer, and a top with shorts this summer.
